GPD launches Win 4 handheld gaming PC with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
The GPD Win 4 is a handheld gaming PC with a 6 inch FHD touchscreen display that slides upward to reveal a physical keyboard for thumb typing and a design that makes the handheld look like an oversized PlayStation Portable… if the PSP had a keyboard and support for modern PC games.
GPD first launched the Win 4 in 2022, but has released updated models with newer, faster processors several times over the past few years. Now GPD is selling a new GPD Win 4 2025 featuring an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 “Strix Point” processor. It’s available for pre-order from Indiegogo and GPD says the Win 4 2025 should begin shipping to customers in mid-December.
Right now the only configuration of the GPD Win 4 2025 that’s available features 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage and sells for $1172. But if that price is too steep, you can also still pick up a GPD Win 2024 with a Ryzen 7 8840U processor, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage for $851.
AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip should bring a significant boost in performance though – it features updated CPU and GPU architecture, more CPU and GPU cores, and a higher-performance NPU for AI applications.
Theoretically that means you can expect up to 30 percent higher frame rates in at least some games, although real-world results will likely vary from game to game. The new chip also brings efficiency improvements which could help extend battery life.
Aside from the new processor, the GPD Win 4 2025 is virtually identical to the previous-generation model though: it has the same screen, controllers, keyboard, wireless capabilities, and other features.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because we’re talking about a compact and versatile gaming PC with features like USB4 and OcuLink ports, an M.2 2280 slot for PCIe 4.0 x4 storage, and optional support for a 4G LTE module. But it would have been nice to see an upgraded battery or hall effect joysticks.

One thing to keep in mind is that so far the GPD Win 4 2025 is only available through Indiegogo, which is nominally a crowdfunding site. But GPD has a long track record of using crowdfunding campaigns for promotion and pre-orders, and while the company’s products sometimes have quality control issues or other problems, there’s relatively little risk that the Win 4 2025 is vaporware that won’t ever arrive.
